Good Conduct II | Vasista Dharmasutra

In the age of crass, unhinged attitude being hyped as the ‘in’ thing, what is the place for good conduct? The following sutra lays out the benefits of conducting oneself well enough.

According to it, good conduct is the basis of righteousness or what we can generally term as ‘Dharma’. There is no place for Dharma to flourish, if a person lacks good conduct.

As the famous verse in Sanskrit goes, if good conduct can be translated as ‘vinayam’, then it naturally leads to wealth, personal success and most importantly, helps to keep negativity away.

  • Through good conduct flourishes righteousness (dharma)

  • Through good conduct flourishes wealth

  • Through good conduct he obtains success

  • Good conduct removes unfavorable results.
