Vasista's Dharmasutra has been passed down as a sovereign discourse separate to any Kalpasutra.
We have all heard about the travesties surrounding a person, who falls from the high ground. Some of them happen to be those who are associated with being well educated. But does education alone save a person who fails to stand up to his qualifications?
In the following sutra, Vasista discusses the limits of flaunting education as a shield, to protect bad behavior. He says:
The Vedas do not sanitize a man deprived of of good conduct, even if he has studied them along with the six supplements. The Vedic wisdom abandons him at the time of death, like bridling a nest when they have grown their wings.
Through good conduct flourishes righteousness (dharma); through good conduct flourishes wealth; through good conduct he obtains success; and good conduct removes unfavorable results.
